He was married in 1847, to Miss Jane Savage, of Albany, N.Y. He was known as a ready and quite eloquent speaker, when he became interested in any public question. He took an active interest in the question of national legislation on the tariff and finance, upon which subjects he held conservative and pronounced convictions. He soon became the bea? of the Wisconsin Leather company. In 1851, he came to Milwaukee, to which place the business of his father, himself and brothers was removed. When quite a young man he engaged actively in the leather and tanning business, relinquishing the practice of law, for which he had prepared himself. Allen was born in Cazenovia, N.Y., 1818, and graduated from Union college in 1841. The funeral will take place from the family residence, 265 Martin street, on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Allen died at his residence, 265 Martin street, at 1 o'clock this morning, aged 71 years.
